Thank You, CPS Technicians, for Making the Connect to Protect Conference a Huge Success! Remember to check out the resources below.

Certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technicians put their knowledge to work through a variety of activities, including car seat checks where parents and caregivers receive education and hands-on assistance with the proper use of child restraint systems and safety belts.

Become a CPS Technician

A CPS Certification Course is a required 3-4 day curriculum that includes lectures, written quizzes, hands-on skills assessments, including a checkup event. To successfully complete the training, students must:

  • Be 18 years or older to participate.
  • Attend the entire training.
  • Participate in class discussions and practice activities.
  • Pass three written quizzes with an 84% or higher.
  • Pass all four skill evaluations.

All materials, including the workbook are included in your registration fee. Technicians must re-certify every two years by keeping up-to-date with the latest CPS information through seminars and continuing education credits.

Please note: This class can be rigorous. Participants must be able to lift, carry and install car seats in vehicles for the entire course. For more information about becoming a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, click here.
